For enhanced safety, the front and second-row seat shoulder belts of the Lexus LX have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer doesn’t offer pretensioners for its second-row seat belts.

The LX has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Grand Wagoneer doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the LX. But it costs extra on the Grand Wagoneer.

To deliver safety and visibility under dusty conditions the Lexus LX’s backup monitor has a standard rear washer to keep the view clear. A camera washer system costs extra on the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

Both the LX and Grand Wagoneer have rear cross-traffic warning, but the LX has Parking Support Brake (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Grand Wagoneer’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the LX and the Grand Wagoneer have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The LX comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Grand Wagoneer’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Lexus’ powertrain warranty covers the LX 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Grand Wagoneer. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Grand Wagoneer ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The LX’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Grand Wagoneer’s (6 vs. 5 years).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the LX’s reliability 37 points higher than the Grand Wagoneer.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are better in initial quality than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 20 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is ranked 11th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in reliability, above the industry average. With 135 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is ranked 33rd.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Lexus third in overall reliability. Jeep is ranked 24th.

The LX 600’s standard 3.4 turbo V6 produces 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (479 vs. 468) than the Grand Wagoneer’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the LX 700h gets better fuel mileage than the Grand Wagoneer 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder 4x4 running its gasoline engine (19 city/22 hwy vs. 16 city/23 hwy).

The LX has a standard locking fuel door. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Grand Wagoneer. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Lexus LX, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Grand Wagoneer.

For better maneuverability, the LX’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the Grand Wagoneer’s (39.4 feet vs. 40.2 feet).

The LX is 1 foot, 3.6 inches shorter than the Grand Wagoneer, making the LX easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The LX is 5.3 inches narrower than the Grand Wagoneer, making the LX easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the LX easier. The LX’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 31.6 inches, while the Grand Wagoneer’s liftover is 34 inches. The LX 700h Overtrail’s liftover is only 31 inches.

The LX has a standard third row seat which folds flat into the floor. This completely clears a very large cargo area quickly. The Grand Wagoneer doesn’t offer seats that fold into the floor.

The LX’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Grand Wagoneer’s (8000 vs. 6030 pounds).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Lexus service is better than Jeep. J.D. Power ranks Lexus second in service department satisfaction. With a 38% lower rating, Jeep is ranked 21st.

The LX’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Grand Wagoneer’s standard power windows’ rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the LX the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Lexus service department.) The driver of the Grand Wagoneer can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The LX has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Grand Wagoneer doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Lexus LX has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the Grand Wagoneer.

Both the LX and the Grand Wagoneer offer available massaging front seats. The LX Ultra Luxury also has standard massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging second row seats aren’t available in the Grand Wagoneer.

The LX 700h’s Advanced Park can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Grand Wagoneer’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
